Restaurant Replaces Menus and More with iPad

A trendy Atlanta eatery is the latest to adopt a growing hospitality industry trend: using iPads as interactive menus.

If hyperinflation sets in someday then the digital menu would definitely seem like a smart move. Prices could move like the US Debt Clock. On the other hand...

Waiters of the human variety come in only to bring orders to the tables.

That sounds deflationary. Further, I would bet that a robot can easily bring orders to the tables someday (much to the delight of the "trendy" patrons). That would be even more deflationary.

Fresh, fast, fun conveyor-belt sushi

There's nothing old-school about Blue C Sushi in Fremont. The conveyor belt gives it away. Blue C isn't the only kaiten (conveyor) sushi place in town, but they have studied the form and do it well. One rule of the kaiten game is to keep the belt full, because there's nothing lonelier than an empty conveyor belt (think of the baggage claim before the suitcases start coming out). Blue C's belt is groaningly full.

I've eaten at Blue C Sushi. Even the name is fun.

I bet some of you are thinking that I'm joking about the robot waiter. It is only a matter of time. Check out this robot in Japan.

Trendy? Yes. Amazing? Absolutely!

Kono バランス ロボット ga daisuki!!! I would love to have this robot serve me in a restaurant! - Robido1

That's really good for the waiters, they no longer will drop dishes nor they will have to carry heavy plates of food. - quelita28

It does indeed make it really good for the waiters. Behold the power of innovation to make the lives of workers easier.

  1. Be sure to see the robot's "feet" in the last video. It may surprise you.
