Using data "taken from hundreds of various points from user responses...interpolated using NOAA's average annual snowfall days map," Trubetskoy made a map showing how much snow it typically takes to close schools in the U.S. and Canada.

    Time to try another tack...

    What's your take on FOREX? In the last five years the dollar's lost 25% of it's value vs. the Swiss Franc. How do you value the Franc vs. your various yardsticks? Is it expensive, cheap, or what?

    BTW, today PMs gained against ALL currencies. :-)

    I am a Swiss Franc agnostic. I have no opinion on what its value should be.

    I can say that I don't trust the Swiss banks more than I trust our own (not much ;)). Perhaps that's what makes me an agnostic.

    Here in Houston, it takes zero inches of snow to cancel school...or work. Just the thought or news of potential snow will do that.

    Here in the Seattle area, we tend to wait until the snow hits and then we apparently panic, lol.

    (I grew up in Eastern Washington. It took more than a few inches of snow for school to get canceled. We had this miraculous technology known as snow chains. ;))
