How to Stop Living the Paycheck-to-Paycheck Lifestyle
1. Get a handle on your money situation.
2. Cut spending from your budget.
3. Look for ways to increase your incoming cash.
4. Focus on a bright future.
While these steps are great advice for people who don't have a firm grasp of the obvious, there is a much quicker way to guarantee that you reach the goal.
1. Lose your job.
2. Focus on a dim future.
No paycheck. Problem solved.
Your choices are nearly endless. Your job could be outsourced, automated, vanish in a corporate bankruptcy or corporate downsizing, an incompetent boss could make you the scapegoat to protect himself, you could get too injured, sick, or pregnant, or you could simply be enticed to quit. You know, a hostile work environment or just an extremely depressing one should do it.
Hey, just trying to offer an alternative solution for those who have tried nearly everything!
Nobody has ever been fired for being too pregnant of course. I was just being silly to make a point.

Woman fired for being pregnant, wins $75k compensation
She was originally terminated after violating the nonprofit company’s “no pregnancy in the workplace” rule.
WTF!! What kind of evil company would do such a thing?
United Bible admitted that there was no other reason to fire Johnson other than for the fact that she had violated its “no pregnancy in the workplace” policy, that Johnson had performed her job well otherwise, and that it refused to hire any replacement for Johnson that was also pregnant.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And be fired and destitute, and be placed out on the street, and be ashamed of what you have done, and do not collect unemployment if you are fired for just cause, such as pregnancy, for the insurance shall not cover thee.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, some of the Bible's text must have been destroyed during a flood. I have made an attempt to fill in the missing part. Sigh.
Reentering the workforce later this month after 7+ years out.
ReplyDeleteHit up JCP and Kohl's for work clothes . . . timed the sales pretty good so for $330 I got 10 decent dress shirts for like $15 each, 2 pairs of dress slacks for $25 each, $40 for a new pair of white New Balance trainers, 14 white cotton undershirts and 10 pairs of dress socks

per-capita clothing consumption
All I know is it took a helluva lot of labor to make this $300 in clothing, it's not the highest quality but I oughtta get a good 2-3 years of it.
Troy,
ReplyDeleteI'd say you did great. I dropped about half that much to attend a wedding reception earlier this year, but if we were to weigh our two purchases, I wouldn't feel nearly as good as you should on a dollar per pound basis. Not even close. Hey, at least everything was on sale me too, except for the shoes. I did get $5 off of them by asking. They were the last ones in my size, the floor sample.
