The rage that's fed by Donald Trump
But while anger at elites is a permanent fixture, even a healthy one, of democracies, there is a very particular kind of rage in 2015.
It feels as though the economy isn't working in everyone's interests and politicians are only working in their own -- a mood exacerbated by the credit crunch and Barack Obama's failures in office. A lack of strong centrist leaders ultimately creates the vacuum that radicalism fills. Blame for Trump lies as much with Bush, Walker, Christie or even Clinton as it does The Donald himself.

Why Did Germans Embrace Him?
At most, the exhibit seems to agree with the British historian Ian Kershaw that "the road to Auschwitz was built by hate, but paved with indifference." At one point, the show claims that the murder of the Jews was "condoned with a mixture of partial approval, moral indifference and growing fears of terrorist measures." Another typical sign tells us that public acts of violence met with "the approval or at least acceptance of the population."
Sigh. :(
Saying it is hateful to be against a policy of open borders and sanctuary cities is hateful in saying it.
ReplyDeleteFor what it is worth, I do think Trump feeds the hate. I certainly wouldn't say it is hateful to be against open borders though. There's a reason I keep the front door of my house locked. If people want in, I'd like them to ask first.
ReplyDeleteWhat hate?
ReplyDeleteYou really can't see the hate that Trump feeds?
ReplyDeleteHere is an angry post directed at Trump's angry followers.
ReplyDeleteI could do a post expressing anger over the angry post directed at Trump's angry followers I suppose, but then maybe someone else would do an angry post about my post's anger. Where would it end?
Just a thought.
Mark, anger is justified. Wait til you see how many Seattle anarchists actually vote and vote for Trump. He is not my guy. I just don't see any hate anywhere.
ReplyDeleteRedState Gathering organizer reads hate mail from Trump supporters
ReplyDeleteStill others let fly further invective toward the Obama family, including one who wrote: “Why don’t you just marry the [n-word] in the White House if you’re going to reject Mr. Trump? … You’re no better than the [c-word] who lives in the White House.”
It doesn't get much more hateful than that.
