Kerosene-Type Jet Fuel

Economics is not rocket science. It just looks like it sometimes.

Jet Fuel

Oil prices increased about fivefold from 2003 to 2008, raising fears that world petroleum production is becoming unable to keep up with demand. The fact that there are few alternatives to petroleum for aviation fuel adds urgency to the search for alternatives. Twenty-five airlines were bankrupted or stopped operations in the first six months of 2008, largely due to fuel costs.

  1. I should point out that there is actually data in black under that trend line in red going back to 1992. It's just so hard to see because the trend line nearly perfectly covers it up. Talk about a tight fit!

  2. Ah yes, that early Labor Day this year... so unlike a typical year in which Labor Day falls in October.

Of course, Oct is now shot with the Govt shutdown.

And I heard Thanksgiving is also early this year, falling in November instead of the more typical December.

You read it here first: the early Thanksgiving is what spooked the Fed to extend QInfinity.

  3. AllanF,

Labor Day is currently just 24 hours per year, which could end up being ironic someday.

  4. We need more holidays in order to boost sales. Let's see. We've already got April Fool's Day and New Year's Day.

How about Greater Fool's Year? Every day's a holiday! Hurray!

Merry Perma-Christmas and Happy Greater Fool's Year!

    Genius! ;)

  5. Well, if you're talking new holidays, how about a debt holiday. All interest payments suspended for 12 months, just until the economy is kick-started. If that doesn't work, next year it's P&I. :)

  6. AllanF,

Gitcher stinkin' hands off my interst, you gd commie!

This response hand crafted (with love) by my born and raised liberal East Tennesseean girlfriend. Since I'm in treasuries, she's looking out for my best interest.

Don't make her take off her shoes and earrings if you know what's good for you, lol.
