Since the economy began to fall apart in 2000, it would seem that women are definitely winning the battle. Or are they?

BJS: Prisoners in 2013

On December 31, 2013, the United States held an estimated 1,574,700 persons in state and federal prisons, an increase of approximately 4,300 prisoners (0.3%) from 2012. This was the first increase reported since the peak of 1,615,500 prisoners in 2009.

Prosperity, baby! That's what I'm talking about.

The number of persons admitted to state or federal prison during 2013 rose by 4%, from 608,400 in 2012 to 631,200 in 2013.

We're back on track! The economy is recovering nicely!

As of 2013, there were 1,463,454 male prisoners and just 111,287 female prisoners. That's a 13 to 1 ratio! And why does this matter?

We men are always thinking! Free clothing is just one failed bank robbery attempt away!

Female prisoners sentenced to more than a year in state or federal prison grew by almost 3% (2,800 inmates) between 2012 and 2013, while male prisoners increased 0.2% (2,500).

Hold on now. 3% growth vs. our 0.2%? That's not a trend I'm comfortable with! We men must not lose our prisoner monopoly in this brave new prosperous world!

First they came for our jobs, and I did not speak out. Because working for "the man" kind of sucks.

Then they came for our incarceration, and I did not speak out. Because there were plenty of prison uniforms for all. You know what? Never mind. I'm good.

Too much sarcasm? Or too much despair? You make the call. Sigh.

  1. Since the obesity rate in America is still following its parabolic growth, please, please don't let it mean that nudism is catching on.

  2. Anonymous,

Obesity nudism may take down the voyeur drone industry! There are some things that once seen, simply can't be unseen, lol. Sigh. ;)
