Is it any wonder that our government landlord could only spot the housing bubble after it popped?

Fire district mulling plan to charge accident victims for aid cars
SEATTLE -- The high cost of providing aid cars for accident victims has one local fire district thinking about charging for the service, and that bill could cost accident victims more than $600.
I was under the mistaken impression that I was already paying for the services provided by local fire departments.
PROPERTY ASSESSMENTS - RESIDENTIAL
The amount of property tax you pay depends on the cost of state and local government, including the operating costs of schools, roads, parks, libraries, hospitals, city and county government, and your local taxing districts such as ports, fire districts, utility and sewer districts.
In my defense, I blindly believe everything that I read. Someday I'm going to learn to separate the illusion from the reality though. Keep the faith!

St. Louis Fed: Property Taxes / Wages
I wonder what Pete the Property Tax Parasite would say about property taxes reaching 7% of wages?
ReplyDeleteThe world may never know! ;)
Rents are a lot higher than 7%, sigh.
ReplyDelete24.6% in 1980 and 30% now.
Housing is the primary rent-tap the 5% has emplaced on the 95%. Half the population pays 30% or more of their income on the rent.
The system as-it-is is so immensely corrupted and unjust it's staggering to me.
And what's amazing is I lived 15 years in it before this injustice became apparent.
I might have mentioned this earlier, but Marshal McLuhan had a saying that "whoever discovered water, it wasn't a fish" -- we are so immersed in land dynamics that we do not even sense them, it's like the hydrological cycle -- money just has to flow by the hundreds and hundreds of billions from the working to the entitled.
Only medical care can rival housing for the scale of rent-tap -- and the genius of the mandate (Date with The Man) is that now generally healthy 20 somethings can't even avoid that.
