The Future's So Bright I Gotta Rent Tires

June 08, 2013
High prices are driving more motorists to rent tires

Eric Malone, who owns eight RimTyme stores in North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia, was drawn to the business by the high profit potential. RimTyme averages more than $1.4 million a year in sales across its 25 locations, nearly double the take at parent company Rent-a-Center's traditional furniture and electronics stores.

His employees make about three repossessions a week....

  1. I love this story!

Places like Rip-Off-Center are experts at taking advantage of the poor and financially ignorant. What a country. sigh.

What other necessities can be rented? Housing is covered, cars, furniture, now tires. Food and gas are consumed. How about clothes and shoes?

    Rent-A-Shoe? Rent-A-Closet?

  3. Where's this country headed? The following was caught by Blogger's SPAM filter. It would be a shame to let it go to waste, lol. Sigh.

Definitely believe that whih you stated. Your favourite justification seemed to be on the internet the easiest facftor to understand of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while other people consider issues that they just don't recognize about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as smartly as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , other folks can take a signal. Will probably be again to get more. Let's channel some positive thoughts into this thread.

Nevermind that the entire homeland eCONomy now depends on the savings of poor people on the periphery to keep it from falling apart.

Nevermind that AmeriCONs CONsume more than they earn.

The difference will be made up by the kindness of thrifty Asians whose savings glut will continue to be recycled into granite countertops and flat-screen TV's.

    It's a Goldilocks eCONomy:

    1. Real estate never goes down,
    2. You can get rich by spending,
    3. Savings don't matter,
    4. Deficits don't matter,
    5. Let them sweat, we'll think!

Or is that an Alice in Wonderland eCONomy???

You're clinging to old rules and customs. Relax and feel the rythmic vibes of a revolution. A new system of habitual cheating has taken hold.

  8. Why not buy used tires? it might be a bit more expensive but no where near 900 dollars! at that price it would have saved them atleast 700 dollars or so just to buy new tires

    just saying

  9. Heather,

One would think that at least some of the tires being rented have already been used by others. Scary thought considering how much is being spent.
