U.S. retail sales miss view on weak holiday start
"It looks as if the litany of Black Friday and Cyber Monday surveys did not exactly paint a clear picture of the start to the holiday selling season," Sozzi said of early hopes for a strong Thanksgiving weekend.
Shocking! Shocking I tell you!

Well I had wrote this lengthy piece on how I thought the spinmeisters were full of it, but I deleted it.
Here's the condensed version:
Since our mall opened in 1982 I have NEVER seen it as empty on Black Friday as it was this year.
People did not have to park on the grass this year.
Traffic was not backed up onto the interstate trying to get into the mall.
I do not live in a bubble area.
There is nothing to do around here except go to the mall, eat out, and watch corn grow in the summertime, plus maybe tip a cow or two.
People around here still have jobs.
My conclusion: People around here are wary.
I'll be watching the day before Christmas (when all the guys have their "Oh s***!" moment and do the last minute shopping for wifes, girlfriends, etc.) and if it comes up short too then I'm gonna guess the jig is up.
watchtower,

Almost been there, almost did that.
It wasn't going to the mall. It was going to the bowling alley.
It wasn't eating out. It was hanging out.
It wasn't corn watching. It was wheat watching.
It wasn't cow tipping. It was even more wheat watching, lol.
