Marie Callender's closes 31 units amid bankruptcy
The closures were so sudden, some diners were forced to leave while they were still eating.
No apple pie for you!

They closed 31 stores? Almost exactly 10 pi.
Mr Slippery,
If decapi means 10 pi then here's a word that might describe our economy.

Well there they go, now it is a take out model!!! They should IPO the new model ASAP and partner with Groupon.
GYSC,
Hello. Will you be attempting to dine with us this evening and/or would you prefer your order to go?
This new economy sure does complicate things.
The sad thing is that they didn't let those customers finish eating. Back in my days in the restaurant business umpity-ump years ago, if people were still eating at closing time, we locked the doors but we let them finish eating, then let them out one by one as they paid (can't forget the "paid" part :) ). The closers took about an hour to clean and vacuum everything anyhow, so it wasn't as if letting them finish their meal was a big deal.
But I suppose when you're working for a soul-less megacorporation rather than for a small business or franchisee, giving a **** about such things doesn't come into play. Welcome to MegaCorpFood, we don't care, we don't have to. Which reminds me of one reason why so many businesses fail -- they treat their customers as if they don't want their customers' money. And the customers return the favor.

I shared this story with my girlfriend and she didn't believe me!
