I bought 6 pounds of bananas last night at QFC. They were 64 cents per pound. They weren't even on sale. It would seem that hyperinflation theories have been poned yet another month.
As a side note, I love bananas. About a week ago I put a frozen banana in the blender, added a can of refrigerated vanilla Ensure, and then used the Smoothie setting for 30 seconds. I think it tastes awesome. It's like a thick, rich, banana milkshake without having all that fat. As an added bonus it is very easy on my stomach.
In the spirit of full disclosure, my girlfriend disagrees about the taste. *shrug shoulders*
If you decide to give it a try, let me know what you think. Surely I can't be the only person on the planet who likes it. It's a big planet, lol.

I'll pass.
Fat isn't harmful in my book; gram for gram they may pack twice the calories as sugar, but fat is satiating while sugar is, well, sugar.
Maltodextrin isn't so hot either, with a very high glycemic index. Ensure might be good as a recovery drink after a 5 mile run, but other than that I would avoid it.
Just throw in some milk and vanilla protein powder with the banana. I like the http://eas.com/product/100-pct-whey-protein-powder, it's similar to Ensure but has sucralose instead of sugar.
Mark,
Never had ensure, but I have to agree with Troy. I want as little processed crap in my smoothie as possible.
Here's how I do it, if anyone cares. Orange or other natural fruit juice mixed with various frozen fruits - usually blueberries, mango, strawberries and raspberries. Sometimes I even add gogi berries!
If you don't want to freeze your own fruit store bought frozen fruit works great.
Bon appesmoothie!
ps. Turmeric is a wonderful natural anti-inflamatory!
Troy & mab,
3 down, 6,973,738,430 to go, lol.
I probably shouldn't mention that I ate a hot dog this evening. :)
My winter breakfast treat - a bowl of porridge with sliced banana stirred in. The porridge warms the banana and makes the taste stronger.
P.S. Don't even think about adding sugar to porridge.
dearieme,
P.S. Don't even think about adding sugar to porridge.
@#$%! I thought about it. Your warning came too late. ;)
It always falls to me to defend the poor metals.
Come back to dark side, Mark! The metals are very forgiving.
Mr Slippery,
I read your post on Saturday. I opted to keep my opinions to myself.
There are certainly no guarantees that silver or silver dollars will keep up with inflation in the future, but it is highly likely they will retain some purchasing power.
This same argument could have been made by real estate agents, could it not? I have no desire to own silver at these prices.
Well, I had to tempt you one more time. I am not adding any silver here either. I do plan to add one more gold purchase this year to get to my desired allocation.
I also want to add some more nickels, but my wife thinks I am using too much space already so I may be done with all metals soon.
You are free to ridicule my lumps of metal any time. The lizard brain that buys them won't be offended.
Ridicule is definitely not the word I would use.
Let he without hoards cast the first lump of metal.
