This reminds me of a childhood memory. My first grade teacher (54 years ago) tied an unruly student in my class to a chair and gagged him until his parents could come pick him up. Public schools took discipline very seriously in the old South. Clearly this woman didn’t learn the lesson at an earlier age!
Nearly 50 years ago, my teacher said (paraphrased from memory), “Anyone chewing…”
My desk was open so I immediately spit my gum into it, then shut the desk.
He continued, “…gum will wear it taped to their noses for the rest of the day.”
I still feel a bit of guilt over that. Nobody noticed me do it, most importantly the teacher!
It happened in the morning. Most of the class had been chewing gum. Most of the class spent the day wearing gum. He’d warned us that he didn’t like it, on more than one occasion, and apparently decided to finally put a stop to it once and for all. His plan was amazingly effective.
Behold the power of tape! Hahaha!
That’s a funny story. I forgot to add…the kid was gagged because he started cussing (for some reason) after he was tied to the chair.
Tagline for Alien (1979):
In [the] space [of a classroom], no one can hear you scream [swear words].
It always comes back to Alien. Always. Hahaha! :)
