Wal-Mart Touts $98 TV as Holiday Seen Weakest Since 2009: Retail
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) is dangling a 32-inch flat-screen TV for $98, down from $148 last year.
When can we expect the Fed to lower interest rates to help spur the economy again?
I live in the USA and I am concerned about the future. I created this blog to share my thoughts on the economy and anything else that might catch my attention.

Bah! Those Bloomberg writers didn't notice the flat imports into LA since 2011, signaling strong retailer buying (hat tip CR). They are just nattering nabobs!
From the article,
Wal-Mart, which has projected stagnant U.S. comparable sales for the rest of the year and vowed to be aggressive with its promotions
Why isn't Wal-Mart watching the port traffic instead of their own sales reports? I am pulling my hair out with all this negativity. (/strong_sarcasm_off)
Mark,
I'm reactivating the blog and my next post will compare previous holiday spending. Teaser:
2008: $716
2013: $704 (est)
Mr Slippery,
Why isn't Wal-Mart watching the port traffic instead of their own sales reports?
Perhaps they are! Perhaps Wal-Mart expects to sell four $98 TVs this year for every three $148 TVs last year! If that's the case, port traffic really should be rising!
Unfortunately...
3 x $148 = $444
4 x $98 = $392
$392 < $444
No wonder Wal-Mart is feeling the gloom. Due to this season's coming price wars, Wal-Mart can't figure out why port traffic isn't a lot higher than it is.
Rob Dawg,
Stop teasing me like that. I'm not spending $704! ;)
I'm not spending $704! ROTFLMAO!
I gotta do a better job keeping up with the comments.
AllanF,
I gotta do a better job keeping up with the comments.
You can be forgiven. The "job" doesn't pay all that well, nor does it include free healthcare. ;)
