A Rash of Bad News

The economy?

Well, maybe. This particular rash of bad news of which I speak is located in a band covering the left side of my chest and back though.

If you are wondering why my posting activity has been running a bit light lately then the answer is clear. I've got shingles. It would seem that I had chicken pox when I was very young and it has decided to reactivate.

It's a real party let me tell you. Not! It burns, it burns.

I'm not going to complain too much though. At least it hasn't gotten near my face or eyes (at least so far, knock on wood). It's a textbook case apparently.

I guess I just prefer to see the dark side of things. The glass is always half empty. And cracked. And I just cut my lip on it. And chipped a tooth. - Janeane Garofalo

And has shingles, and caused the Nasdaq to fall 3.1% today, and so on, and so on, lol. Sigh.

Gallows humor. Seriously. Sometimes you just have to laugh it off.

I'm not convinced.

In all seriousness, I really do have shingles and it is definitely no party. Sigh.

Dude, sorry. I've had the chicken pox, so I am a candidate to get it some day as well. Hope you recover faster than the Nasdaq.

Mr Slippery,

Hope you recover faster than the Nasdaq.

Since the 2000 peak?

Or since the peak this year?

Never mind. I don't want to know! ;)

Mr Slippery,

You might want to ask your doc about the adult vaccine , which is supposed to reduce the occurence/severity of shingles re-occurence.

Anonymous & Mr Slippery,

I would highly recommed getting the vaccine. My pain level continues to increase and I haven't even reached the itchy stage yet.

It's like a severe sunburn and I can't get out of the sun.

If I showed pictures of my chest and back they would horrify (even more than many of my charts)!

CP,

So much for rising interest rate theories (again).

(I'm sorry to read about your shingles attack.)

My efforts trying to subscribe to your blog have been unsuccessful, and the link to your Stagflationary Mark email won't work!

I discovered your blog this afternoon after remembering Norbert Einstein's several visits and overnight stays at my childhood home in Olympia. I, too, heard the bedpan story! My family was involved in founding FEE. I live on Mercer Island and I'd like to be in touch. Best, Susan

Hi Susan,

Don't know why you are having problems emailing me or subscribing.

The subscription might not be working because I haven't been posting lately?

I can offer a tip though. If anyone asks if you'd like Shingles...

"No. I'm not interested. Thanks for asking though!"

In all seriousness, I'm surviving so far but it is definitely not a fun adventure, lol. Sigh.

I've had shingles; you have my true sympathies. I'd love to take you to lunch when you're better. srlund@aol.com.

Best,
Susan

Susan,

I'm just thankful the Shingles are fairly optimally placed (not near my face or other sensitive areas)!
