The Billionaire of Bag Holding

February 6, 2015
Eike Batista is now a 'negative billionaire'

According to Bloomberg's Billionaires Index, Batista, who was worth $35 billion in 2012, now owes $1.2 billion.

This mythical creature was first seen in Advanced Dungeons & Dragons in my youth. The barrier between myth and reality has just been blurred, lol. Sigh.

In all seriousness, I'm guessing that he regrets not embracing capital preservation strategies. Easy come, easy go.

Not only have I finally exceeded the net worth of a billionaire from 2012, but we all have. Congratulations everyone! We've won! Let's continue to party like it's 1999! What's the worst that could happen? Woohoo!

He should have become a US citizen so that the gubmint could have bailed him out.

dearieme,

Perhaps it isn't too late. What's he got to lose at this point?

I also suggest that he changes his name to General Lehman Motors. Might improve his chances, lol. Sigh. ;)

Hey, have you seen the comments at HCN recently? "All" is a bit generous.

Rob Dawg,

I have not visited lately. Your comment implies that my following HCN assumptions may all be invalid.

1. Most are trillionaires now based on the intellectual property rights valuations on their opinions, as determined by them. Market based valuations, of course, may differ.

2. The government has declared the HCN comments to be a think tank worthy of extensive government subsidies. All that hard work sharing opinions has finally paid off!

3. The rear view mirror is so captivating by this point that we've finally reached a new era of permanent prosperity. Further, everyone at HCN has already levered up so any and all future prosperity is already factored in!

Is this not the case @ HCN?

If it is the case, then I regret not getting my fair share of the proceeds. I really should have stuck it out. I should have trusted my own HCN assumptions. ;)

John,

The shills have never been more alive!

Fast Money? Mad Money?

Where is Fast and Furious Money starring Vin Diesel? Now THAT would be amusing! Booyah! ;)
