Funny! Ripley does one growl, then barks when a package is being delivered. She whines when there are dogs passing in front of the house. German Shepherds are excellent guard dogs.
Nice!
River only barks at common delivery vehicles (trucks, vans, post office vehicles). She hasn’t learned to distinguish between deliveries for us and those of our neighbors though, so there are a lot of false alarms. We have a sign on our front door asking delivery people to ring the doorbell (not everyone notices it). They probably think we’re nuts to ask since River’s barking is louder than the doorbell.
I am trying to help her learn by saying “we’ve got a package” and “not for us” but so far, no luck!
She’s done a lot of claw damage at the front door. Should have been telling her to wait on the couch from the start. I’m actually kind of surprised she listens to me enough to even go wait on the couch when there’s a package. She REALLY wants to investigate!!
