When I saw the title to this post I thought of late '07, early '08 when there were pictures on the 'net of these ports with 1,000's of cars sitting there all dressed up with nowhere to go (I think Mish posted the pictures.)
As I ponder the charts in this post I can't help wondering if all those cars shipped here from overseas did, in fact, find a home. And what effect that had on domestic sales in the years following.
It leads me to a quote I remember seeing somewhere to the effect: "This is the new economy though. The sooner we all can make do with what we don't really have, the sooner we'll all be less better off. It's a win-win for nobody.".
Fritz_O,
That quote sounded like something I would say.
Sure enough, it was. Hahaha!

Historical Dow
I'm working on the dotcom model, so um, well, I don't actually have any profits to show for it. This is the new economy though. The sooner we all can make do with what we don't really have, the sooner we'll all be less better off. It's a win-win for nobody. Hurray!
Talk about a trip down memory lane. We're caught in a Groundhog Day economy.
"Talk about a trip down memory lane."
When I was "in the business" I used to love the phrase "data mining".
I've been digging through the tunnels of the IOP mind...here's another gem and appropriate to this post...
"This is your captain. I have good news and bad news. First the bad news. Engine #1 is failing. The left wing is cracking. We're hopelessly lost and low on fuel...we're currently in a semi-controlled dive. Now for the good news. We're still making good time and should be on the ground well ahead of schedule"
Intervention is such a wonderful thing.
Fritz_O,
Yet another trip down memory lane.
