A $100,000 factory job. What's uncool about that?
An aspiring machinist -- a popular factory job -- can start training at 18 and then do a one- or two-year manufacturing apprenticeship. In five years, he or she could be making more than $50,000. In 10 years, that could double to $100,000.
Could double to $100,000! Sweet! So what would it take?
Sedlak's top worker makes $30 an hour.
$30 x 40 x 52 = $62,400
First become the top worker. As an aspiring machinist, that sounds doable. That gets you $62,400. Then what? Pray for 4.83% wage inflation over the next 10 years?
$62,400 * 1.0483^10 = $100,009
Of course, that's not your only option. You are apparently allowed to work overtime until the factory becomes fully automated.
What's uncool about that?

Purdue Pete hammer machine goes international
“Automation is a very important part of staying competitive in manufacturing today,” said team member Jason Wintz. “As a manufacturing engineer, I will be required to constantly explore new and innovative manufacturing technologies, in order to implement and improve automation throughout a manufacturing facility. The utilization of wireless technology from Phoenix Contact has allowed me to begin that exploration now.”

Hey, you can get to 80,000 without any wage inflation. Some of his guys make 70-80k.
30 * 40 * 52 = $62,400
$80000 - $62,400 = $17,600
$17,600 / (30 * 1.5) = 391 OT hours
391 / 52 = 7.5 OT hours/week
All you have to do is become the top worker, never take any vacations or holidays off, never get sick, and work 47.5 hours a week for 52 weeks. Bam!
The one big upside is you don't start life with $100,000 in unforgivable student loan debt.
Mr Slippery,
$1 billion in net worth. What's uncool about that?
All you have to do is become one of this country's top CEOs. Some overtime might be required.
If if's and but's were candy and nuts then we'd all have a Merry Christmas, lol. Sigh.
One more thought.

I think I can get you to $90k.
Amway!
A co-worker suggested I come to his house for a presentation about an "exciting business opportunity." This was my first introduction to Amway. A couple of hundred dollars and a week later I was an Amway distributor (they call them Independent Business Owners -- or IBOs -- now).
These articles such as the Yahoo linked are plants to draw people into the specific field to increase the pool of candidates, allowing employers to drive down wages.
Scott,
I can offer nothing to dispute your theory. It is about the only thing that can explain the $100,000 factory job teaser.
