Attempt to pay property taxes in $1 bills lands man in jail
The bills were said to be folded so tightly it “required tax office personnel approximately six minutes to unfold each bill.”
It's unfortunate that he did not create a flock of Origami birds instead. The humor might have prevented criminal trespass and resisting arrest charges.
As a side note, if you know going in that you are in a**hole mode then:
1. If asked to leave, then leave.
2. If placed under arrest, then don't resist.
Nothing good ever seems to come from the alternatives. Go figure.

Man Pays Off $13K Bill in Coins, Bills
"I could have turned him away. There is a taxation code section that says we do not have to take payment in coin," Axelson said. "But he came in looking for some confrontation and I just wasn't going to give it to him."
Hello wheelbarrow, lol. Sigh.
That's generally not something that enters my thought process. It's not like the politicians at the top feel the pain of counting it. More likely it is someone near the bottom just trying to earn a living. That said, it does tend to get attention. He was lucky he wasn't mugged though. Many have killed for far less than what was in that wheelbarrow.
How can a government agency turn away legal tender?
Anonymous,
It's easy. You offer up the legal tender in a not easily transferable way. For example, nobody would be expected to accept dollar bills if they had just been used to line a cat's litter box.
And as for wheelbarrows of coins, it is not reasonable to expect any entity to accept them if they are not setup to take delivery safely and efficiently. I certainly don't want my tax dollars being used to pay government employees to manually count tens of thousands of pennies just because a payer felt like being a jerk. That's especially true if I am next in line to pay.
