Trivia time.
I just got my property tax notice for 2012. Knock me over with a feather.
They are 8.8% less than they were last year. What do you know? They can go down.
Mine went down in 2011, but I don't think it went down far enough so I filed an appeal. I finally got a hearing date in April, but this is for last years taxes that have already been paid. Never been through this kind of thing, and they send you paperwork to make it look scary. I'll let you know how it works out. I am asking for a $40,000 reduction which equates to $400/year in taxes.
Mr Slippery,
You ask for a $40,000 reduction and then tell two friends to ask, and so on, and so on.
We'll be out of this crisis faster than you can say Great Depression II: Return of the Killer Depression, lol. Sigh.
As a side note, over the last year they say the value of my land dropped $1,000 but the value of my house dropped $56,000.
It is common knowledge that a house permanently mounted to the ground is sure to appreciate. The anchoring process guarantees it. If that's not the case then I want a house that can be easily moved. Something mobile. Perhaps either located in a park or can be parked.
Why haven't more people thought of this? ;)
