Home Mortgage Debt Party

Here's the last 16 years worth of home mortgage debt.

I tried to just put one trend line through it thinking it was just a simple growth curve, but the data just didn't line up.

So I broke it into four year chunks and did each chunk separately.

1990-1994: 5.94% average annual growth
1994-1998: 6.06% average annual growth
1998-2000: 9.54% average annual growth
2000-2004: 12.3% average annual growth

Looks a lot like a parabola to me. We've piled up $4 trillion in extra mortgage debt in just four years. Sure hope the party continues!
