"A Replay of Internet Boom"

Chambers touts 'virtualization' at event
In a keynote address the VMworld conference in San Francisco, Chambers said virtualization is spearheading "a second phase of innovation," in an identical replay to what happened in the mid-90s, when the number of Internet users skyrocketed.

An identical replay? Oh oh. Next he'll be telling me that Amazon.com is once again trading at 120 times trailing earnings and has 11% of its shares shorted. (For the record, Amazon is trading at 120 times trailing earnings and has 11% of its shares shorted.)

Chambers cited the recent growing popularity of consumer Internet services such as social networking Web sites, and the downloading of video clips.

Hey! That's kind of what I'm doing. This is fantastic news. You know, someday they might even figure out a way so that this anonymous random blogger on the Internet pays for the service or manages to click on an advertisement link. Nah, that's just crazy talk. Until then though, reap the non-rewards!

Here's just a sample of what will apparently propel America well into the 21st century!

Believe it or not, I once was a computer game programmer (and am still quite addicted to computer games). I therefore find it especially amusing. :)
