Spain weighs converting unsold homes to public housing
MADRID — Spain's housing ministry on Monday said it was studying ways to convert some of the 500,000 to 600,000 new, unsold homes on the market into public housing to counter a property slowdown.
Spain slashes growth forecasts as unemployment soars
"The downturn is spreading very rapidly from the construction sector to all sectors of the economy, and it's happening more quickly than expected," said Gilles Moec at Bank of America in London.
Gosh, that's surprising. It seems only yesterday we were told this couldn't happen.
