Noah's Ark

It might be best to start building one.

Einstein Noah Restaurant Group Reports Third Quarter 2011 Financial Results

System-wide comparable store sales increased 1.0%.

The CPI averaged 218.254 in 2010:Q3.
The CPI averaged 226.452 in 2011:Q3.

That's an increase of 3.7%.

Inflation adjusted system-wide comparable store sales therefore fell 2.7%.

Don't even get me started on what happened to net income.

Net income available to common stockholders of $2.8 million, or $0.17 per diluted share, compared to $3.6 million, or $0.21 per diluted share.

So what did the shares do today? Up 3.94% of course.

Hero Motors forays into restaurant business

NEW DELHI: Auto component firm Hero Motors today announced its entry into restaurant business through the launch of 'AUMA', a multi-cuisine eating joint in the capital.

Forehead. Desk. Whack. Whack. Whack.

The salary of one engineer here can fund 10 in New Delhi . . .

10 people who need to eat lunch too!

The increase in same store sales was probably due to price increases on the menu items.

That CPI chart looks like inflation has been roughly constant since about 1973. Not good.

Scott,

That's just a chart illusion. Inflation was much worse in the 70s.

When the CPI increased from 40 to 80 prices doubled. When the CPI increased from 80 to 120 prices only increased 50% though.
