A Pretty Scary Picture!

November 2, 2016
USA Today: Here's how much the average American spends on child care

In fact, the cost of child care is so astounding that over 20% of those surveyed say it drove them to hold off on having kids. Meanwhile, 25% of parents have gone into debt in order to pay for child care. But while these numbers might paint a pretty scary picture, there are things you can do to ease the financial burden.

I had to stop reading. Started to feel like another cat story. We already know how the last one ended!

No worries. Third world immigrants will do the jobs Americans can't afford to do! Like having children!

From Wiki-leaks (Podesta emails): ensure demographics is destiny.

Move along, nothing to see here. Those evil Russians spreading lies!

Having paid for it, twice, can confirm it is super expensive. For many years, after school child care for us was about $1600/month. Now we have one in college and one in child care and it is even more expensive. Child care dropped to about $400/month but (our portion) of college is about $1700/month. That's after 50% is covered by scholarships. We never questioned the value of our kids or the care. I do know people who struggle with it, though. It's a lot easier if you have family close by to help out.

It makes one wonder if our population growth will soon follow Japan's, especially if our stock market continues to struggle.
