Quote of the Week

June 2, 2012
2012 is not 1991: Why UPA’s snake oil remedies won’t work this time

A drowning man is not going to throw another drowning man a lifeline.

The article is filled with quote of the week candidates. I was nearly overwhelmed when it came to picking the best one. Snake oil? The illusion of prosperity? Steroids? The proverbial stone age? And so many more!

Drowning man for the win apparently.

A long time ago, my father shot a deer while hunting. It ran about 50 yards across the width of the field, then up the creek for 100 yards, then across the field along the end fence, then back along the side fence and fell over within 10 yards of where he shot it, having run maybe 300 yards total. When he field dressed it, he found that the bullet blew away the deer's heart; the biggest piece he could find was the size of your pinkie. It ran that distance on its last heartbeat.

Creatures can go an amazing distance with a fatal wound.

Who Struck John,

Amazing story.

I think it might apply to the Roman Empire or maybe even other empires that may or may not be within 300 yards of me. Sigh.
