Most of Free Lunch Already Gone

June 2, 2016
The Onion: Man Takes Sober Moment To Reflect On Fact That Most Of Meal Already Gone

“How arrogant I was, thinking my lunch would last forever. I was so preoccupied with other things that I completely forgot to appreciate what I had right in front of me. I should have savored every moment I had with it, but now…now, it’s too late.”

What? You thought I was talking about the economy? Oops. Sorry about that. This is food satire. It has nothing at all to do with our strong and resilient economy.

We all know that the Fed will never allow this economic expansion to end.

Don't let the Great Depression, the Great Recession, and 17 other recessions since the Federal Reserve was created in 1913 fool you. They know exactly what they are doing and have learned from all their mistakes. This time it's different! The dream of everlasting prosperity has finally arrived! Woohoo!

Jamie Dimon: "Someone is going to get hurt."

June 2, 2016
CNBC: Jamie Dimon just sounded the alarm on auto loans

The JPMorgan Chase CEO says "someone is going to get hurt" as financing for autos has flourished in the U.S.

Someone is going to get hurt if a large asteroid collides with the continental US. If we can see it coming, we can move that someone to safety though. You know, maybe buy that someone an overseas plane ticket.

Jamie and me! Two eternal optimists! ;)

"Normalized" Interest Rates

May 13, 2016
Kiplinger: Interest Rates to Change Little Till Fed Acts

Eventually, the Fed will realize that it’s not getting very far in “normalizing” short-term interest rates back to the 3% level, and it will mull accelerating hikes once it appears safe to do so in light of an improving economy.

Since 1934, the yield of the 3-month treasury bill has been:

1. At the 3% level (3.00% to 3.99%) just 9.6% of the time.
2. At the 0% level (0.00% to 0.99%) a whopping 28.5% of the time.

If the 3% level is normal, I'll eat a bug.

Patient: I think I'm pregnant.
Doctor: Why would you think that?
Patient: I'm craving pickles.
Doctor: You are not pregnant.
Patient: I read on the internet that giving birth to a child is normal.
Doctor: Generally, yes. You aren't pregnant though.
Patient: How sure are you?
Doctor: I am 100% sure that you are not pregnant.
Patient: You haven't even run any tests!
Doctor: Frank, there are two types of people in the world. Those with ovaries and those without.
Patient: OMG! What's wrong with my ovaries?!!

Hahaha! :)

Apartment Complex’s Demand That Tenants ‘Like’ It On Facebook Backfires

While residents were predictably angered, so were many social media commenters. Since issuing the addendum, City Park Apartments has racked up overwhelming negative reviews on Yelp — where it currently boasts a one-star rating — as well as on ApartmentRatings.com. An unofficial Facebook page for the complex also shows a 1.1-star rating. Some Facebook and Yelp users are going so far as to call the policy fascist.

Our Serious Fed

Kiplinger: 4 Cheap Bank Stocks to Buy Ahead of the Fed

Many financial companies will benefit once the Fed gets serious about lifting interest rates.

Once the next recession hits, the Fed may be [zero] bound and determined too. Seriously.

Hey, maybe it is different this time. Perhaps our strong and resilient economy has miraculously become recession-proof.
