The promise of a meritocracy is a simple one: Each individual will be compensated in proportion to his or her labor.
Who made any kind of promise of a meritocracy? I forgot what amendment to the constitution that was. It is certainly worse now that the Fed can create unlimited credit, but I don't think anyone ever promised a meritocracy.
I haven't tried the hot dog crust, but I have tried a cronut. Shameless.

The Meritocracy Amendment is located right after the State Lottery Amendment.
Nothing says meritocracy like randomly picking lucky numbers and having all of one's financial dreams come true. Well, or um, paying a voluntary tax to help fund state governments should the lucky numbers not be lucky enough.

One would think that once the population stops growing, so too real rents.
Of course, that day could be a long ways off. Or not. There are lots of ways for the population to stop growing, many of which would not be considered optimal (war, disease, natural disasters, ...).
