Wages Paid in Rice

The following chart shows how we would have been doing if wages were paid in wholesale rice instead of dollars.

Our dollars just aren't buying as much rice these days. That's okay. We are still getting a great deal on rice burners.

The Food Crises and Political Instability in North Africa and the Middle East (pdf)

Social unrest may reflect a variety of factors such as poverty, unemployment, and social injustice. What the fed is doing to my investment plans: Downgrade house and upgrade garden so that I can grow my own vegetables.

And regarding North Africa. To calm tempers, maybe our Supreme Leader can hold another one of his grand speeches in Cairo and get one more of these nobel peace prices that recently got handed around.

Stag, I am not there yet, but I am with you and think hoarding is going to be the next big thing. Did you know that youhoard.com is still free? Once I find 20 spam mails per day in my inbox that tell me what products to hoard, I know that its time to invest pro cyclical again. But right now its still mortgages, consumer disretionary, and viagra.

Anonymous,

I only hoarded because it seemed better than loading up on 0% treasury bills. It wasn't that I expected shortages. That said, no complaints so far. Sigh.
