Rhetorical Question of the Day

There are not many persons who know what wonders are opened to them in the stories and visions of their youth; for when as children we learn and dream, we think but half-formed thoughts, and when as men we try to remember, we are dulled and prosaic with the poison of life. - H.P. Lovecraft, writer of horror fiction

There’s a ton of non-paying internships and the places you can intern for no pay are awesome. - Madison Pffaf, age 20, third-year student at the University of North Carolina

Why am I suddenly dulled and prosaic with the poison of life?

While it's true she doesn't earn much in her non-paying internship, at least they match her IRA non-contributions. Sometimes, it's not the salary, it's the benefits!

Anonymous,

Hahaha!

She actually chose not to do an unpaid internship, which is kind of odd given how "awesome" they can apparently be, lol. Sigh.

Under the right set of circumstances, I could probably be emticed to do an unpaid internship even at age 50 and with no plans to go back to college.

I'm picturing some sort of cruise ship pool quality inspector type of internship, where I must swim an hour a day to test cruise ship pool water liquidity, assuming that they at least offered me free room and board of course. ;)

American names can be a source of great joy. "Madison Pffaf" is pretty good.

No doubt her brother is Hamilton Pffaf. And their dog is Franklin von Pffaf. The cat? Jefferson von Pffaf?

The cat? I'm picturing...

Scampers von Pffaf IX

No lives left, which explains all the scampering. ;)
